PCLETS: Event-Sensor Eye Tracking

PCLETS: Event-Sensor Eye Tracking

Event-sensor test rig aimed at the mechanical eye

SBIR Topic: A244-002 — Precision Control Lens Eye Tracking Sensor · Sponsor: U.S. Army · Phase I complete

Eye tracking is a foundational input for next-generation operator interfaces, but doing it precisely in a compact, low-power, near-eye form factor is hard. This effort investigated an eye-tracking architecture built on event-based sensing.

Note: Some details have been altered, obscured, or sanitized to safeguard operational security and proprietary methods.

Our Approach

With Alwyn Smith as Chief Engineer, PCLETS paired a near-eye event sensor with a fiducial-enabled contact-lens concept and validated it against a purpose-built mechanical eyeball testbed. Event sensing suits always-on wearable gaze tracking: microsecond response, very low power, and minimal data load.

Capabilities Demonstrated

Event-based vision, near-eye sensing, and human-machine-interface design, plus a repeatable testbed for measuring tracking performance.
